When Ananya Singh saw that in many far-flung schools, students are deprived of even the most important facility like microscope for studies. Those subtleties of science which can be understood better only by looking under the microscope, those children are able to see them only through pictures.
So she understood the principle of microscope and made a microscope out of waste plastic bottles. Even though this microscope is made from waste materials, but the results obtained from it are exactly the same as the real microscope. Not only this, it can be easily carried anywhere. For this ‘Plastoscope’, Ananya was awarded with the prestigious Inspire Award MANAK from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

विज्ञानवीर के इस एपिसोड में देखिए दिल्ली के एक स्कूल में पढ़ने वाली छात्रा की प्रेरणा देने वाली कहानी। जब अनन्या सिंह ने देखा कि दूर-दराज़ के कई स्कूलों में छात्र पढ़ाई के लिए माइक्रोस्कोप जैसी बेहद ज़रूरी सुविधा से भी वंचित हैं.. विज्ञान की वो बारीकियां जो माइक्रोस्कोप में देखकर ही बेहतर तरीके से समझी जा सकती हैं उन्हें वे बच्चे महज़ चित्रों के माध्यम से ही देख पा रहे हैं, तो उन्होंने माइक्रोस्कोप के सिद्धांत को समझा और बेकार पड़ी प्लास्टिक की बोतलों से ही एक माइक्रोस्कोप बना डाला।
भले ही ये माइक्रोस्कोप बेकार वस्तुओं से बनाया गया हो लेकिन इससे मिले नतीजे बिलकुल असली माइक्रोस्कोप जैसे ही होते हैं। इतना ही नहीं इसे आसानी से कहीं पर भी ले जाया जा सकता है। इस ‘प्लास्टोस्कोप’ के लिए अनन्या को विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग, भारत सरकार की तरफ से इंस्पायर अवॉर्ड मानक से सम्मानित किया गया।
