The Flares of Sagittarius A*, Our Galaxy’s Black Hole | Discoveries of Webb Space Telescope Ep 3

Astronomers using the #JWST have made direct observations of the black hole at the center of our galaxy: Sagittarius A*. These observations are possible because the Webb Space Telescope can peer through the dust at the center of our galaxy using infrared light. These observations surprised astronomers.

  1. DAMN……. I`ve been too busy in the past 6 years to spend time on youtube, I was trying to get my life together. I got it together and now and I have sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many deep astronomy videos to catch up on, that I have no idea how I`m going to do it. mission impossible. Last time I watched your videos, JWST was just a plan, and now here we are…. Feels good to be back to my favourite channel. This channel got me interested in astronomy in the first place. Since then I haven`t stopped looking up. Thank you Tony for still making videos!!! You rock

  2. I can't believe people just accept the centre of a Galaxy is a so called Black Hole. It's not because Of direct evidence there is none, it's purely because of this ingrained belief that Gravity says it has to be a so called Black Hole or the outer Stars of the Galaxy would be flung out into Space because they spin as fast as the inner Stars. This is the reason this centre of the Galaxy has a Black Hole. This is how Einstein's theories has held Science and Cosmology back for over a hundred years now. It's the same with how they call Comets a dirty snowball yet they landed on one and it was solid rock etc. Everything they do in Cosmology is theoretical yet people accept all these things as fact, it's crazy.
    Peace

  3. Einstein repeatedly said that singularities are not possible. His reasoning explains dark matter. He wrote in 1939 –
"The essential result of this investigation is a clear understanding as to why the Schwarzchild singularities (he was the first to claim Relativity predicts singularities) do not exist in physical reality. Although the theory given here treats only clusters (star) whose particles move along circular paths it does seem to be subject to reasonable doubt that more general cases will have analogous results. The Schwarzchild singularities do not appear for the reason that matter cannot be concentrated arbitrarily. And this is due to the fact that otherwise the constituting particles would reach the velocity of light"
He was referring to dilation/gamma. It's the phenomenon behind the phrase "mass becomes infinite at the speed of light" this doesn't mean mass increases, it means mass becomes spread throughout spacetime relative to an outside observer. Even mass that exists at 75% light speed is partially dilated. Time dilation is just one aspect of the phenomenon.
It occurs wherever there is an astronomical quantity of mass. This includes the centers of very high mass stars and the overwhelming majority of galaxy centers.
Our galactic center is dilated. This means that there is no valid XYZ coordinate we can attribute to it, you can't point your finger at something that is spread throughout spacetime. In other words that mass is all around us. It's the "missing mass" needed to explain galaxy rotation curves.
It does not occur in galaxies with low mass centers because they do not have enough mass to achieve relativistic velocities. It has been confirmed in 25 dwarf and ultra diffuse galaxies to have no dark matter. In other words they have normal rotation rates.
