  1. If you have champagne taste, but a beer budget , don’t give yourself the stress ! When maintained correctly and not allowed to ‘slip’ , you will be rewarded with a reliable vehicle that is a fabulous place to be ! Have had my 2010 HSE since it was 3 x years old and has been versatile and faultless … until it blew in France last year at 145k miles …. Then a world of pain ref engine rebuild / replace options as supply so limited . £10k to rectify with a low mile secondhand engine after a lot of searching and hassle with sharks ! Why you may ask ….. well having mai tai ed regardless of cost ( suspension , gear box service , rads etc) I know it inside out and as based in Ireland , worth twice the amount than the U.K. despite €2,400 annual road tax . Biggest reason thought was what else combines the light , airy space and practicality and well as the new models being so expensive and you will see graveyards of 2.0 version Landrover , so I like the Devil I know and will keep for the foreseeable and just have a range of cars for all purposes ( SMART , 107 SL ETC) and still save money over replacing !

  2. Well – I managed to get a D4 Landmark last August – late 2016 version with only 34,000 on the clock – looks like brand new.

Absolutely love it, it's such a joy to drive.

Just trying to find the best tyres – I want all terrain, all season with the snow symbol so I can drive in Europe in winter.

I did go to PowerfulUK and have swapped most of the filament bulbs for LED (ie: reverse, rear fog, number plate, puddle lights and internals) – and it's booked in to have the underside professionally Lanoguarded.

It's one of the very last before they switched to the D5 (I definitely prefewr the D4) and I plan on keeping it for a long time.

  3. have a 2016 sdv6, love driving it, drive light throttle in Au, i prefer the stick shifter on the 6 speed, but gee the 8speed hangs on with all that torque. Mine does not downshift as you say, if you drive in S mode it will hold the gear
i swapped the 20 inch for 18s by modifying the front calipers, better tyre choices for the dirt roads eh
    no the tare is 2600kg

  4. One thing i love about my D4 is how quick the range change is.

We have a 2017 L200 at work and it takes a good 30 seconds to change from high to low box. Even when transfer case is warm

  5. Chap – best review of the Disco 4 on the interweb – just what I needed, thank you. I'm in Yaxley, Near Peterborough in Cambridgeshire and this was exactly the review I wanted – someone who uses a car! Thanks George, really appreciate it albeit 4 years after the post!

  6. I'm picking up a lovely 2010 Disco tomorrow..Had the later 8 speed but although it's better on fuel and bit quicker the 8 feels like it drags as soon as your foots off the gas.

  7. One of the things that worry me if one of turbos go it’s whole body needs to come off , the air suspension is a worry as bought my car when it was only 14254 last year am hoping it will last for bit before problems start happening. Don’t go to landrover for service go to a decent independent as LR quoted me £825 for 15000 service, got it done for £315. Re brake pads for eg landrover use ferodo for thief pads so just buy ferodo ones instil lr . Regards mark

  8. Great video George, especially with vid from drone, I bought a low mileage 66 plate landmark in watomo grey, iconic landrover, I noticed in last few months prices for low mileage 16 ref now over £36000. Regards mark
