  1. I have to say, I was VERY disappointed when my initial guess for "takeoff announcement"–STRIPTEASE–turned out to be completely wrong. That just seems like such a perfect, punny answer, after the NYT crossword style.

  2. Peck and Bushel are still used today. For example, when talking about quantities of apples or peaches. You might go to a farmers market and purchase a peck or bushel of apples.
