Would you like to see more solar applications and projects here on the channel? Let me know!
My understanding is the PT is not rated for constant Ground Contact as GC is.
I usually use that rubber coating on my piers, as the concrete will continue to pull moisture up to the 4×4 and hasten rot. Its a minor extra cost and effort, but depending on where you are it could add a lot of extra life.
Thank you for the video. I've been a fan of your videos for probably about 2 years now.
Question, would there be a way to put a battery system on the unit you just built. So that you might be able to use it when there's no sunshine?
Looks awesome!
I would be interested in seeing how you utilize the power you are producing,, including your battery set up. I find this kind of stuff interesting tho I may be in the minority of you viewers. I was also thinking that you might want to think about a way to change the angle of your panels to a more optimal one for the winter/summer usage as the sun will be much lower/higher as the seasons change. That might be too much for your present design, but possibly for the next addition???
Its about time u got solar now u will expand it cause u will want more free power been off grid for 10 years and still going. Keep it up brother
Shake the haters off. There is 10 ways to build it and Thats more than strong enough
We did our first mount the same way..almost exactly. Frost heaving took out (cracked) 3 of our panel's first frost. We pulled it all apart and rebuilt with 4' cement sono tubes the following Spring.
Dude, that is awesome. You can't make the haters not be haters. Outstanding work!
Ahhh the satisfaction from hard work and doing it yourself. Great job!
Nice! Did you ground the panels?
Very jealous about your ground mount system. I've got about 11 kW on the roof of my shop and they point south, so it works great. Biggest problem is keeping them clean and doing maintenance. I've had a panel out for a couple years and it's taken a while to replace it because the panel manufacturer went out of business, so I've had to buy a second hand panel that's similar and the effort to replace a panel in the middle of the array is a bit daunting. I've got the replacement panel now and if it was on a ground mount, it would have been done easy pezy. Thanks for showing off your new system.
Excelent! Just a comment on the structure. For more durability you can paint the burried poles from the bottom up to 30cm over the ground, with asfaltic paint. That will prevent water to ruin the wood and it will last more. Other than that, great job! Keep it up!
I don't care if there was cheaper option – this looks amazing. Nice work!
if you live in snow country keep that low array edge high off the ground.
high quality anodized solar mount rail is only 45 dollars for 17 feet. the hardware to too clamp is inexpensive and looks great.
stainless and aluminum is almost forever.
you will save tons of money hassle and time to avoid unistrut
please avoid unistrut its heavy rusts if not treaded proper and clunky….. did i mention expensive?
the wood timber structure is great. use solar spe
Absolutely I love anything solar whether itโs in a van or the homestead I can learn from it. Really appreciate your hard work and your videos ๐
Since you didn't mention an inverter, are you feeding the DC directly into the mini-split? But then your new breaker panel has a dedicated AC breaker for it so there must be an inverter somewhere. Just curious, thanks.
Nice video. That rack for the panels is super beefy. I canโt imagine anyone would say different. Great work.๐
at 2:11 the big metal thing looks like a oil change rack, possibly an old school tire alignment ..
