Discoveries from the Muzeum Susch Library: Jennifer Higgieโ€™s Book Picks ๐Ÿ“š



Jennifer Higgie #JenniferHiggie is an Australian writer and former editor and staff writer of frieze magazine who lives in London. Her recent books include โ€˜The Other Side: A Journey into Women, Art and the Spirit worldโ€™ and โ€˜The Mirror and the Palette: Rebellion, Revolution and Resilience: 500 Years of Women’s Self-Portraitsโ€™. She is also the author of the novel โ€˜Bedlamโ€™; author and illustrator of the childrenโ€™s book โ€˜Thereโ€™s Not Oneโ€™; and editor of The Artistโ€™s Joke. Her five part essay for BBC Radio 3, Artists and the Spirit World, is available on BBC iplayer. She has been a judge of the Paul Hamlyn Award, the Turner Prize, the John Mooreโ€™s Painting Prize, and a member of the advisory boards of Arts Council England, the British Council Venice Biennale Commission, the Contemporary Art Society and the Imperial War Museum Art Commissions Committee. In 2023, Jennifer was guest curator of the exhibition of contemporary and historic painting, โ€˜Thin Skinโ€™ at Monash University Art Museum in Melbourne. Jennifer is also the host of the podcast Bow Down, which ran from 2019-2021, and the ongoing National Gallery of Australiaโ€™s new podcast, Artistโ€™s Artists.

Residents are invited to finding solace and inspiration in the Engadin valley ๐Ÿ”๏ธโ›ฐ๏ธ๐Ÿ”๏ธ The programme encourages reflection and engagement with key topics central to the work initiated by MUZEUM SUSCHโ€™s founder, Graลผyna Kulczyk, from matrilineage and the recognition of overlooked female artists to the spiritual significance of location and landscape, specifically in relation to heritage and situated memory.
