  1. Home solar owners and large power plants both are energy providers to PGE. Both have invested in power generating equipment expecting returns on their investments. Yet I doubt PGE would ever accuse major power plants of "taking advantage of lower class people" or attempt to breach contracts with them. It seems PGE and the state are collaborating to find excuses to rip off home solar owners for their own benefit. PGE wants to steal solar energy from home owners and resell it to their customers. I bet they aren't going to lower the rates even after killing the existing solar incentives. Mostly likely, they will look for more excuses like "inflation" or tariffs. They assume homeowners lack the resources to fight back unlike major energy providers with their armies of lawyers.

PGE should be grateful to home solar owners for reducing strain on their under maintained, aging grid, especially during hot summer days. Even a few solar powered homes in a neighborhood help lower demand from PGE by offsetting the energy needed for running ACs. Instead, PGE wastes money running TV propaganda to claim they’re improving the grid with staged shots most likely . PGE's so called "care" for customers is asking them to prepare for power safety shutdowns. They are shifting responsibility to their customers rather than fixing their grid.

  2. I’m an electrician, I install solar panels… sorry but it was never worth installing solar panels from the beginning. This is just my opinion but the hype behind it was false including “cleaning the air” when most of the pollution is coming from 3rd world countries. Another California scam

  3. I would never add solar to my roof as I seen too many damage and water leaks when it rains. Also note your insurance company may not approve this if your tile/ composition etc is old or wearing off. Its dumb to add solar to benefit PG& E so they can profit and sell your energy to your neighbors. It's best to have solar if you have a power station set up to recycle your own energy for your home.

  4. About time they do that. Charges used to get shared fairly but now many have solar, those who don't faced increased share of those charges.

  5. These people have gotten a great deal both on the power and Federal tax breaks all at to he expense of the poor. It never should have been allowed and those who have benefited for 10 years have gotten more than their monies worth so let's be fair

  6. This is ludicrous, WHO agreed to shift the costs to non solar customers? PG&E just arbitrarily did it or maybe we were misled. Just like when they jacked up the rates to pay for their lack of maintenance that caused the wildfires. Not to mention all the other rate hikes for no reason. AND they can't even deliver enough power! Also where I live we have no other option than PG&E how is that not a monopoly? Something needs to be done

  7. I would like to understand your thoughts on conflict of interest, when PG&E donated $500,000 to UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, from Severin Borenstein, yet that is not mentioned in this interview.

  8. Why would anyone be surprised by the utilities in California. Round about, they give you incentives to spend money, then take incentives away and leave the homeowners in worse financial shape. This has been happening in every area of this state. Utilities give to reelection campaigns, request rate hikes that the governor has to approve and guess who pays for the reelection and then pays again in higher rates.

  9. I am not low income. I do not plan on getting solar. Do not want any clowns working on my tile roof. Heard to many horrors storing about leaking roofs. Some solar companies are not very helpful when you have problems. I am 68 and the solar window has closed for us. I am glad because these clowns keep changing the rules. And our soooo called governor is keeping his mouth shut as usual. California is turning into a state for only rich people. They always use the poor, poor people when they want to make changes, Blah blah blah. The poor never benefits from the changes.

  10. Democrats always selling us down the river. They also said uproot your landscape for the ugliest plants that turn to weeds over beautiful luch lawns and plants. Oh ya, they also pushed for Tesla. The Democrats need to stop pushing products down our throats. Let the market decide without manipulation.

  11. lol total scam. Now new homes have to be installed with panels. Your tied into the grid, tied to the hip by providing pge energy and paying them higher rates lol. This is insane. All the stupid people boycotting Trump need to boycott stupid California laws and policies.

  12. it’s beyond time to take a look at the power companies record profits. My electric bill has doubled even though my consumption has remain the same. I do not have any solar they’ve just doubled my rates I adding a bunch of charges for this and that like transmission distribution, etc. etc..

I also on a pretty large piece of property was several of their power poles and they do a ridiculous amount of maintenance that’s completely and organized. They send multiple crews out to trim different parts of the same tree for example. It’s absolutely ridiculous. I’m assuming that they are making markups off of every single contract. That’s why they award as many as they do.

I started throwing them off my land until they make an appointment and we come up with a consolidated plan for doing all the work that needs to be done on my property at one point in time instead of having contractors on my property every week

  13. This berkeley always getting sided with big corporations😢 so sad everything this berkeley said always bad for resident and good for big companies, how make sense while low income can apply low income rate and paying so low ? Does this guy really know anything or just tryin to make money too ?😢

  14. What this video doesn’t mention is that you can sign up for a solar monthly bill less than half of pg&e. So everyone could just get solar and avoid any pg&e price hikes
