4K Review: 2017 Land Rover Discovery Quick Drive | Consumer Reports
The 2017 Land Rover Discovery boasts a robust powertrain, a firm and steady ride, and a quiet cabin. But accessing the third-row seats and using the infotainment system are challenges.

If it said Toyota discovery. They would like it. No wonder Toyotas rate well.
When did they stop offering it in that green color?
Picked my Disco up last August…it was flat bedded back to the dealership within hours! It is in the dealership right now…it is the SIXTH time, and they usually have my car for 7-10 days every time. Only has 5000 miles on it and have had non-stop issues, many that you have featured on here. The infotainment system has been "update" 7 times and is STILL very much broken. Cameras, sensors, apps, nav, bluetooth, gets stuck off then gets stuck on even when the car is turned completely off and I am out of it…you name it…it's broken. It was in for nearly 2 weeks, and within a week I had to have it picked back up. Right now they are trying to fix: Hood cable is too long and could be a "very bad situation" (their words), the infamous infotainment system disaster, no less then 3 warning lights on, windshield washer fluid spilling everywhere and always showing it empty (even though it has not ever been used), and this big one: Twice while driving down the road (not while at a light, etc..) the car randomly shuts off and goes into an idle mode! The service guy today told me that he doesn't know why no one ever called me because it could have been very unsafe and he was sure that it scared me (it did!), and that this "should"take care of it. Apparently it was something with the ECM and their was a needed update to the engine control unit that is the Powertrain for the vehicle! Hand to God that's what he said! Iv'e been trying to give this car back for months…such a ridiculous situation and company. never again
Why does CR have such a hard on for German cars?
The audio recorded in this video is poor compared to other video vlogs.
Outside great Disco but inside disappoitment: stearing weel to narrow and hard (buttons cheap china toys), no electric power to stearing weel for that price?, plastics aroud chairs poor quality and not nice cut, elbow rest box cover cracing and moving to sides like in old cheap car, 3.0 diesel till 80 km/h ok but over to loud and to week (wait for 5.0v8 benzin), on big rims 20-21inch on bumpy road feels like no luxury car for that price, it feels that company tries to earn as much as it possible and cheapen interior or had no time to spent on this car enough time thats pity, hope they get better…
Nice Ford Explorer.
Fantastic review for the disco. Great job!
I think its a great vehicle except for the fact that the rear windows do not open up all the way down.
If you really want a perspective on how this car performs then you need to hitch a 2-animal horsebox to it, load it with 3 teenagers and all the accoutrements needed for eventing, drive it for 90 miles, spend a day at a competition then drive it back again. The outcome? Flawless. Easily the most competent and comfortable vehicle on the market for the job it was designed for.
As for reliability? I've done 100,000 faultless miles in my Ranger Rover over 5 years – a good chunk of it towing said horsebox.
Looking at the Dimension chart it is the big brother to the Ranger Rover Sport, as the Discovery is longer, by almost 4 inches, wider by 1 inch, and taller by 3 inches. The Range Rover is longer, but the width is the same, and the Discovery is 1 inch taller. That is from the Google search….
Love mine….
Has this one broken down yet?
Disco, Disco, Disco, Disco, Disco!
I wouldn't let this reviewer change the air in my tires!
Banish him to testing cookware, although he'd probably be calling Cusinart, Coozy!!!
I just really, really hate all the wheels LR is offering right now.
The placement of the rear plate bothers me. Its not in the centre!
Ugly looking! Look at the back 2/3 portion!
What a nightmare!
re-bodied ford explorer? ewwwww
Ugliest looking luxury vehicle on the market
no body on frame ford explore looking crossover. discovery/LR4 died with 4
I really like it.
Looks luxurious if you say so I think it looks like a over price Ford Explorer
No need for this on the market.
Land Rover is just a name – and CU confirms it. Better options exist that are much cheaper than this overpriced SUV.
You forgot to mention lousy reliability.
