16:13 cope!!! Bravo to tardis for the weak critique. We wanted to SEE the 6 month gap. SEE the doctor doing something cool
What a cope sesh
Love you guys!
That cat was a pussy tbh
doctor who has gone where so many sci-fi shows have gone before… up its own a$$
10:43 I got your Age of Ultron reference there. :)
Funnily enough, I've always thought the 'naming a distant star' gift concept would make a fun basis for a Sci-Fi story.
The robots gave me Star Wars vibes.
Seriously the moment a cute animal is killed in anything I’m done.
It’s so funny that I also got upset about the cat but brushed it off as me being too pedantic and sentimental towards fictional animals, and then I check online and the entire fandom is collectively mourning this cat with two seconds of screen time
They killed the show with Jodie now it’s a animated corpse
Yes that was so cruel 😢.
A decent episode let down by it's pacing. I imagine it's similar to having the cut down colourisations being someone's first exposure to the War Games, I get the ideas but it goes so fast I can't get attached. An extra 15 minutes would've done this the world of good.
10:51 😳🤣
I love having a group reaction video to bounce ideas around.
The VFX was decent enough but the script was terrible
Killing animals as a joke is never funny, Russell.
The incel stuff was so underbaked, RTD mostly wrote an awkward jerk gamer not an incel
Honestly, the episode is much the same as last season. Very muddled with some good and some bad, but getting more stale and derivative of RTD's old ideas. RTD and Moffat are old hacks out of new ideas and need to go.
Also, cat murder is unacceptable.
I cannot belive the hysteria over the fictional death of a fictional cat and this is coming from a lifelong cat owner and general animal lover.
Colin Baker mentioned on the Mark of the Rani commentary that they got way more complaints when the Rani killed the dog than any other violent death that season. I guess it's happened again lol.
Anyway, I really liked the episode. This really should've been what RTD2 should've been day one. Not quite the same quality as Remembrance/Impossible Astronaut but the same impact on the era going forward, I hope.
Here's an interesting thought I just had. Belinda feels like your archetypal RTD1 companion, Ruby feels more like a standard Moffat companion, even a little bit of fairytale and timey whimey with Ruby's first episode
"THE CAT IS IRRELEVANT."
Lowkey can’t stand the trope of killing or hurting a cat for comedic effect, like would that scene still be lighthearted if it was a pug? Probably not.
What color was the cat? Exactly. They never showed a cat. A puff of smoke, some ashes, and a "meow".
