The Collective Unconscious, Christ, and the Covenant | Russell Brand | EP 444

Dr. Jordan B. Peterson sits down with actor and podcaster Russell Brand. They discuss the language of symbols, the collective unconscious, the evolution of theology, and why so many public intellectuals are coming back to Christ.

Russell Brand is an English comedian, actor, podcaster, and commentator. He first established himself as a stand up comedian and radio host before becoming a film actor. He presented for MTV UK and made appearances across media and TV throughout the 2000’s. In 2008, he leapt from British to U.S. film acting, appearing in the hit film “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” followed by numerous international successes. In 2013, Brand guest-edited an edition of the weekly publication the New Statesman, launching his interest and later career as a political activist and commentator. His current podcast, Stay Free, sees Brand calling out major news, governments, and corporations for affronts to free speech, expression, spirituality, and thought.

  1. @russelbrand if you true about being a born again Christian stay away from the supposed "Message" version of the Bible it is great perversion of the word of God.

  2. So thought provoking it hurts my feeble mind…

But the thought that death is the solidifying factor of reality….and the coexisting patterns that validate the outcome of death seems to parallel the scripture that "the wages of sin are death"

Sin means to "miss the mark" right?

And according to Scripture we are given a set of standards for a successful life and the promise of an afterlife…and if we continue to miss the mark or sin, then we set ourselves apart from the pattern that allows us to escape death and in so doing we ignore the shadow that appears to be a hawk?

  3. I think Russell might actually be getting there. Finally after all of his searching, he’s found the narrow road. Will he stay on it and grow in Christ? Let’s pray he does.

  4. Love what Russel has to say at the end – so beautifully put.

Ok so about 39 min in Jordan talks about the hypocrisy (he says insipidness) of just saying “I believe” without meaning it or doing anything. He pins this on Protestants unfairly, misrepresenting us.

No Christian ever said empty lip service saves. You can just as easily hide a dark heart behind good works.

The Holy Spirit is key here (to help us walk the walk) and also to believe.

And ACTUALLY believing in the real Jesus found in Bible (not in Jung’s “jesus”) and what that Jesus of Nazareth did for us on cross matters

Child like faith IS pleasing to Jesus he said so himself

It’s really not that complicated John 3:16❤
