So am I wrong to suppose the middle black space is the "butt hole"? Sorry…
So nice to see the return of comments from the previous day's puzzle! ๐๐๐
I found this to be a more difficult Sunday solve than usual. Worked my way through it but it was a long slog.
Odd, messy, and crass.
I have also seen that the rear end synonyms in the middle of the puzzle also forms the shape of an anus which is quite crudely humourous lol
Could PSA = public smoking area?
Quechua was the main language of the Inca empire. Interestingly, they would chew on the COCA plant when scaling mountains (like Machu Picchu) to fight altitude sickness!
They even offer Coca when you step out of La Paz airport in Boliva due to the altitude.
Hard crossword today, but enjoyable once done! South east gave me a lot of trouble.
Bussing is a slang that essentially replacing necking for making out.
I argued with ChatGPT about whether or not Manhattan is an island or a peninsula and it says that it's an island because it's surrounded on all sides by rivers. It needs to have a land bridge for something to be a peninsula, and if that were true, then it wouldn't be surrounded by rivers then.
TCBY's name confusion possibly explained by Wikipedia: "Prior to 1984, the company's name was "This Can't Be Yogurt," but a lawsuit from a competitor, I Can't Believe It's Yogurt!, forced TCBY to create a new name from its initials, eventually using "The Country's Best Yogurt"."
BTU is British Thermal Unit.

Demon Rum was indeed how tea-totalers referred to liquor, I think even non rum types. At least my grandmother did.
The Country's Best Yogurt is correct
Little Red Hen is the story of one person of the group doing ALL the work. Who will help me sow the wheat? Not I. Who will help me harvest it, mill it? Not I. Who will help me bake the bread? Not I! Who will help me eat the bread. The dog and the pig and the others all enthusiastically volunteer for that 'task'… And the Little Red Hen tells them in no uncertain terms, Oh No they would NOT help her eat it, and she keeps it all for herself.
I really liked all of the different mechanics to discover in this one!
