Singapore’s solar deployment on track to hit 2030 target: Energy Market Authority



Singapore’s solar deployment has grown significantly, with its installed capacity increasing by about 10 times in the last seven years. The Energy Market Authority says the country is on track to achieve its goal of at least two gigawatt-peak of solar deployment by 2030. And while Singapore’s electricity tariffs continues to be driven by gas prices, the falling costs of solar panels may offer a solution in bringing prices down. But where should these panels be installed in land-scarce Singapore? CNA’s Syahida Othman speaks to Dr Thomas Reindl, Deputy CEO of the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore at the National University of Singapore. When solar panels are installed that tapped from sun power but the electricity bill are still going up.don't blame the costs of solar panel , no one ask for solar panel .if solar panel can't bring down electricity bill why waste resources implementing solar panel , any movements from producing to installation all involved used of materials that directly or indirectly affecting global warming.

  9. PAP puts so much resource into a renewable that is projected to contribute only 10% of SG's energy needs. None into nuclear technologies. Most resources into non-renewable of natural gas. If Singaporeans think PAP is serous about climate change, think again.
