Ring Solar Panels (USB-C) 2nd Generation – Things to KNOW.

Today, we are going to take a look at Ring’s new Solar Panels and these are now using USB-C plugs instead of the older barrel plugs that Ring used on their first generation solar panels. These panels will also power up the new Ring spotlight cams (PRO & Plus)… but how about the older spotlight cams and 3rd Gen stickup Cams? We will also see if Ring’s new spotlight cam PRO and Plus will be able to use the older barrel plug panels and also if they are compatible with Ring’s wall and gutter camera and solar panel mounts. A lot of information on this video if you are planning to purchase solar panels for your Ring cameras.

  1. I really appreciate all your reviews. I check with you before I ever purchase anything. Now I can buy the solar panel for Ring. Can you provide a rough estimate on how often the battery will need changing with the solar panel?

  2. I just got the Spotlight Cam Pro and see that it has one battery. Should I buy a second one or will it be fine with the solar panel(which is held up in USPS thanks to the crap storm that hit SE NC)?

  3. I have a question. I have the ring spotlight cams and stick up cams. All of my cameras are connected to Ring solar panels. I live in Southern California (LA area). We get sunlight non stop. Why do my ring camera sometimes stop charging, even if the solar panels are in direct sunlight?

  4. You didn't even show how to set up!!! 😮 You didn't mention if you needed a battery 1 battery or 2 batteries while charging with solar why?!!!! Explain

  5. Needed some kind of idea about this product and found this video..this guy is so easy to listen to, easy to understand and very clear with simple instructions to follow..will now feel confident in buying and fitting the solar panel..thank you

  6. Nice review..It's almost always cloudy here in New York. We probably get 2 or 3 nice days of sunshine a month. Do you think that would work for the solar panel from just daylight? I want to plant one of these on a tree to keep an eye on my driveway and house. And I do have the ring doorbell now.

  7. Plastic mounts, winter winds, 'snap' -it broke after a month. However, Ring was really understanding about it when I called and they took care of it. However, I really wish they would make more durable mounts. If only there was a way to make the panels not so easily caught by the wind.

  8. Nicely presented video. No fluff – straight to the action with precise and quick explanations of features, how-to and comparison between the 1st and 2nd generation panels.

  9. When showing this video you said that the new upgraded Ring Solar Panel has no lines, but when I called Ring to order, Ring sales department said they did not know what I was talking about, because all of the Ring Solar Panel's have lines. So my question then is: Where did you get that Ring Solar Panel without any lines on the face of the solar panel.

  10. Will be moving into a new house in May 2023 and have been reading your reviews. Great job on your reviews and are very helpful in deciding which security cameras to get. Also, saw in your video that you live in Corpus Christi, which also is the place I will be moving into. Are you Pinoy?

  11. Bullshit, it don't work! I have the Super Solar Panel and it does not charge my new Pro camera. I will have to purchase a NEW solar panel just to make it work. Not cool.

  12. Using these on Stick up cam solar (3rd gen) and the extra 0.4A (old barrel style is 0.4A and new USB-C is 0.8A) seems to be helping in the winter days in keeping charge for cams in high traffic areas.
