Report Finds Injury Rates At Elon Musk’s SpaceX Alarmingly High

A new report has found that injury rates at Elon Musk’s SpaceX are significantly above the industry average. The report cites data from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. In 2023, a SpaceX plant in Brownsville, Texas, reported 5.9 injuries per 100 workers, surpassing the previous year’s figures and exceeding the industry average by over seven times. Similarly, a unit responsible for retrieving rocket boosters from the ocean reported injury rates nine times higher than the industry average. Earlier, a report found over 600 unreported incidents resulting in severe injuries and one death.
