Putting this Solar Power Station to the Test!

Today I’m testing out the Rockpals 500W power bank and a 100W solar panel.

Here’s an update a year later, including tests in Fall and Winter: https://youtu.be/bvLpIvd6lY0

  1. 140,000mah means nothing as a number What is important is the Wh which needs a voltage to determine.

    I am guessing they are comparing it to a 3.7v battery as that (140ah x 3.7v = 518Wh) would be about 500w.

But they for sure are using higher voltage batteries then that.

Most likely a 12v LiFePo4 which 518wh/13.1v (LiFePO4 nominal voltage) means the battery is actually likely 39,541mah actually. Or the realistic way to measure it which is 39.54ah.

The 140,000mah they throw out is just marketing fluff that doesn't actually mean anything other then making there product look more impressive then it is.

  2. Is this pure sine wave, modified, or square? It makes a difference. My Jackery 300 is pure for cpap, but my little rocksolar is modified. And the dc connectors are useless unless you plug is a matching voltage, so on thisone the item must be 12 volts. Good review.

  3. Neighbors: "Hey Patty, look at this. He's sitting outside with a TV and it's like 98° outside."

    1.5 hours later

"Patty, he's still out there watching TV. Should I ask if he's ok?" 🤣

  4. This is definitely one product I'm going to be looking for in your "a year later" videos! Things like how long does it hold a charge and does it degrade with use, would be very helpful. Many power banks don't last long before they can't hold a charge anymore.

  5. Seriously I waited this long for an episode to just watch u review a product I have no use for? Go back to reviewing 4-5 products. Your kitchen product reviews are my favorites. If your going to do one long review in a video maybe add a bonus kitchen product review to keep our interest up.

  6. Great real world test, but my favorite part is at 9:21 (Bailey is not very impressed. She's turned her back to the TV. She's upset about this for some reason! I guess she does not like solar generated power.) 😅

  7. I am still trying to find a solar panel charge up solution that works in the winter when one typically does lose power for days to weeks at a time. Suffice to say, this would not be good enough. I don't live in a Sunny warm/hot state year round. My winters get bleak. And when the power is out, there is wind/snow/ice/cloud/rain situation in progress. And I need a solution where solar panels operate better than this. 9 hours for you would be 18 to 40 hours of charge time for me. Assuming it would work at all. That means I would be sucking juice again from the vehicle generator. Which I do already. Roof panels suck here too. So, yah, back to the drawing board.
