Meet Valkyrie, NASA’s humanoid robot paving way to the moon and Mars
Part Transformer, part Star Wars stormtrooper and with hands that look like they can crush beer cans, at 1.8 metres tall and weighing 120 kilograms, NASA’s Valkyrie robot is an intimidating figure. It is currently being put through its paces at the Karda laboratory in Australia so researchers can work out what it would take to get a humanoid robot onto offshore energy facilities or into space. New Scientist’s James Woodford took the controls to see what the $2 million-plus device is capable of.

The latency issue would preclude Valkyrie's use on Mars unless the human operators were either on a Mars based station or in a Mars-orbiting orbiting vessel.
Why make it in human shape? Is it ideal for the tasks?
I saw this thing like 20 years ago. It seems exactly the same
STUPID IT is nothing to do w/ BEIBG human. YOU r nuts. What is wrong w/ YOU ? A lot!!!
I for one am SICK OF THESE LIES! People need to WAKE THE HELL UP! I just watched 2 video's:
PROOF! "These planes were NOT hijacked on 9/11, we have the evidence" – Redacted with Clayton Morris 9/9/2024
“What REALLY happened to U.S. air defenses on 9/11 will shock you” – Redacted with Clayton Morris 9/10/2024
Watch these for your self and you will see the extent that our government will go to in lying to the American people.
dont call it a "her" it's a damned robot, it's an "it" not a "her" or "he"
Clever. Wonder how much it costs? What does it weigh? What about using a drone with multi purpose instruments fitted to it?
Robonaut 2 was so much better ?
That Is going nowhere fast!
General Motors production line robotics
Was für ein absurder Quatsch. Völlig unbrauchbar im Weltall. Humanoide Robotor sind so sinnvoll wie Menschen, also gar nicht.
It explains, why this robot is very slow. The guy in the background is digging out his tight undies. Hehehe and arguing on the phone. I think everyone just takes advantage of NASA and the USA, the contractors are not looking out for the very best. They are just on the lookout for the very best profit, but no results just getting money.
is this thing 10 years old?
Tbh compared to other robots this is slow clunky pretty rubbish! Have they not seen the robots that can do somersaults and dance and run at a sprint?
