Twelve years after the rape-murder of a Delhi physiotherapist created national concern over sexual violence against Indian women, forensic investigation in India remains dogged by anaemic capacity and poor standards. That won’t change, it’s clear, until there’s a deeper public understanding of what forensic investigation can achieve, and the dangers of junk science.

Great insight, Sir, but the problem is, when something like this happens in India, our first job is to erase all evidence so that forensics don't have anything to prove. They have no job left to do because the police have already destroyed all traces. Besides, I think we lack the expertise of the forensic teams of England and America and other developed nations who are technologically far more advanced than India.

In the first place, our Criminal Justice system relies on good police work- something impossible to expect from the crude police force we see everywhere. To this we must add the state of our over loaded Forensic laboratories. It is now shocking to hear about rape cases springing up left right and center. The usual high pitch noises we hear for a few days on our main stream media die down so fast! Given all this background, we wonder if the perpetrators of crime against women are ever punished at all. Even if this did happen, all the publicity does not seem to make a difference to the next one who seems to be too ready to take advantage of an opportunity to rape a helpless victim. How do we cure this horrible widespread cancer??
How about we get the tweeting billionaires and millionaires to fund this.

The difference between China and India is it's philosophy. China was always ahead due to it's Communism values. India due to it's religious belief came to discriminate based on caste, varna and other religious teachings. rape is not considered a sin. Concepts of gopis who can be bought and sold is a abhorrent practice. Dasi who are kept in a temples who serve the pervert religious gurus. If India gives up all its 1000 years old mindset, starts to accept this, rape comes down. Growth will be inevitable. But they won't.
No political party (Congress, TMC, Left, BJP, all the Samajwadi/Janta spawn, everybody) in India is willing to put in the money and the effort because for them every rape is just an opportunity to beat the other party with. All thoughts of the victim, and/or all intention of seeing justice done, be damned.
RG Kar is a good example of this circus. The one party (TMC) whose goons are responsible for the crime and the cover up (at least vicariously) now has its leader leading protests against the rape.

Summary: Society, legal,forensic and political systems will ensure that an innocent woman doctor will not get justice in this world.
