That's not how First Contact works. An alien species would NOT test humanity. They would TALK to humanity. They would take time to get to know humanity and how they think and function.

Of course, this story is just as mundane to epic, needlessly, as most of HFY's stories. It goes from simple first contact (albeit WAY over the top) to some multibook epic space opera. I really wish these stories would STOP DOING THAT.
