The guy mustve been ultra smart. I sat down and tried my hand at cracking the code. I didnt have enough messages to compare but dang
How sad it is that British took all for themselves where actually polish mathematics made most of the job. Poland made a cake and British just put that cherry on top of that cake and call it theirs
Alan Turing didn't reveal any Enigma internal, so how could he crack it. The main person who cracked Enigma was Marian Rejewski. Alan Turing only resolved a technical issue which Rejewski's team faced after Germans added 2 additional rotors to Enigma. Previous solution developed by Polish team didn't have enough computing power. Find a discussion with Alan Turing's cousin sir Dermot Turing, who clearly explains who cracked Enigma.
Had Churchill any sense he would have ordered the preservation of all materials and at some point in the future sold to the British people. Having understood its significance they would have loved it. Just a guess.
Turing is smarter than me by a universe.
Anyone know a video that explains the decryption?
He didn't. He developed the mathematics to speed it the process three Polish mathematicians had done manually.
He didn't. Do due and diligent research. Three Polish mathematicians did that: Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki and Henryk Zygalski.
Turing and his team developed the mathematics, that enabled the circuits gor the Bombes – electro-mechanical machines, to calculate the permutations that enable the traffic to be returned to plain language – German, and then translated in to English and the traffic decoded.
But break Enigma – no. Its just that we live in a PC world where the wrongs of the past have yo be re-written. Turing was a known homosexual, considered a security risk. So now he is bring held up as a genius who did ???
Polish Mathematics crack enigma
Why oh why this irritating music
ooo yes and poland had nothing to do with it thank you GB you allways the best
Dont forget the polish code breakers. They broke the first enigma before 1939 and gave up the material tobritish and french cos they couldnt keep upwiththe increased security added bythe nazis, like 5 rotors choice insteadof 3, and 10 wires todothe lettrers shuffle instead of 6.
Turing team started from polish discovery and broke it again.
In this age of AI, supercomputers, lazy thinking, I often think about the Allies cracking such complex and sophisticated codes. Once you understand just how complex the Enigma code was, especially after they added the fourth rotor, it's just mind-blowing those codes were broken. When you put that in the context of how much was on the line, and how many lives were saved, just amazing heroes.
This is incredible. 🦋🌈✨
So the main achilles heel for engima is the thing that still plagues IT pros today people choosing easy to guess passwords??
Social Engineering in its infancy?
No BRIAN DID NOT STAND ALONE THEY WANTED TO UNIFYI. GET IT RIGHT. IF WASHINGTON HAD LOST THE BATTLE HE WOULD HAVE BEEN HUNG FOR TRESON.. BUT THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. WHY? AND THEN WE ARE BUDDIES WHEN WE NEED TO CONNKER. AND DESTROY. THE DECLARATION OF IF INDEPENDENCE WAS WRITTEN IN WHAT YEAR? BOSTON TEE PARTY. HMM. AT THAT TIME WERE THAY NOT TAKING BLACK PEOPLE FOR SLAVE'S. AT THAT TIME WERE THEY NOT KILLING PEOPLE FOR A SO CALLED WITCH? . WE HAVE COME SO FAR FROM THAT. WHAT IN THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU..I MADE A STATEMENT. WE HAVE PEOPLE BRAKING IN TO CARS IN CALIFORNIA. DO YOU THINK THAT WOULD HAPPEN IN CHINA. I DON'T THINK SO!! MY MOM AND HER SISTER WENT TO KOREA FOR VACATION. SHE WHITNESD A LITTLE GIRL DRIPPING M&MS. SHE SAID HER MOM RAN OVER AND PICKED THEM UP….. AND THAT IS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE. WOW!!!
😂🎉😢😢❤🎉😊
Turing was a genuine threat to our security.
He didn't.
Poland did.
Wow cool stolen video
Very good video but is there another part to it? e.g. nothing about the extra wheel on the naval enigma. Nothing about sending an aircraft to the French Coast and using the enigma encoded report. I had not heard before about Churchill talking about war crimes. I suppose there is a lot to write about the full scale of activities
who is rebroadcasting who's stuff?……are you rebroadcasting time lines' videos or they yours?…… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FDeLnxCOXA
Why are you not translating German?
im sorry. you put Alan in the title and mention him in ONE sentence, and dont even start to mention what he did and how he single handedly totally changed the future of mankind and the planet. disgrace
hey. great idea. the ONLY people you didn't provide captions for are the German speakers. thumbs up.
also great idea waiting to the last 30 seconds to even mention Alan, has the editor even heard of him?
Poles, Alan… Surely after war Britain knew how to say thank you.
The WHOLE WORLD owes this man a lot – yet he got treated second rate. 😒
He didn't
It couldn't have been A B C D because, other than for High Command, the enigma machine only had three rotors.
what about Polish technology?
Bring England to her knees……. forget the Scots, Welsh and Irish then……
With 26 letters recognized via the keys and rotors, how was a number represented? Was it Roman numerals using the letters M, L, C, X, V & I?
Not understanding German , one is bewildered why there are no captions for the vital comments from the U Boat crew towards the end of this otherwise great doco .
Poland discovered and broke Enigma first for heavens sake get it right.
In reality, the Enigma machine itself was perfect and the encoding/decoding procedure would not have been torn apart, even by a genius like Alan Turing. Generally speaking, Cryptography’s weak point is repetition. Unlike the dramatised nonsense heard in the “Imitation game” (“Heil Hitler” and so on), the Germans started each broadcast (early morning, every day) with the “mundane” words: “Das Wetter heute” (The weather today). This identical input enabled Turing’s “computer” to obtain the Enigma-machine settings fast enough, so that they could be useful. Had variety and variation been characteristics of the German soul/behaviour (e.g., starting the daily broadcasts randomly), it is extremely unlikely that any Enigma messages would have ever been decoded (within the time window for practical application). Of course, another crucial issue was that the British had got hold of a functioning Enigma machine, and had figured out how its encoding/decoding worked; this enabled Turing to come up with his “brutal-force” approach.
I read a
Book about this place. It was called Bletchley Park and then there was the box name which was ultra goes to war. Was there an excellent book for food still in Pruitt it would be a good airdropped to us writing❤
It was good until the last 15 minutes. Unless you know how to understand German. Why they chose to leave out English subtitles is beyond me.
TURING WAS A QUEER
Typical British misinformation. The code wasn't broken by Britons! It was broken by polish mathematicians. Britons developed the first computer to speed up process of decoding.
The best documentary on Ultra remains the first. Still Secret, episode 6 of The Secret War.
Thanks for leaving the German voices in it – it helps a lot for those who understand the language directly.
