China’s new polar robot dog shows potential as soldiers six-legged friend

A six-legged robot dog developed by China has successfully completed a series of tests in Antarctica and, while this breakthrough makes it ideal for polar scientific research, it could have military applications too.

Originally designed for scientific research, the robot dog model has demonstrated its ability to move on ice, transport heavy loads, and operate autonomously in environments where GPS is restricted.

The robot’s attributes make it a potential asset for military logistics, reconnaissance, and hazardous terrain operations.

  1. Bruh, opposed tripod gait like walking on two three-legged milking stools, the way you make your first walking robot (with U-shaped feet) in LEGO since the 1970s. One of my earliest videos shows a transit-sized hydraulic robot I worked on from 1999 doing the same thing. I could have been a minted defence contractor by now if BTL hadn't become the only game in town. Can't fault the packaging quality of these Chinese robots though – they look marvellous.
