China has been involved in deep well drilling dating back to the 1st Century BC, being pioneers in developing advanced techniques in this field. Ancient China was the first civilization to employ well-drilling machines and the use of bamboo casing to keep the well open as their drills went deeper and deeper and there is every danger of the earth collapsing into the hole.
