Behind the scenes at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. A driving tour of the continent’s biggest base.

This is a driving tour through the United States’ McMurdo Station in Antarctica.

McMurdo is the largest research Station on the continent and can support around 1,000 in the summer. About 150 people stay through the long polar night in the winter.

I was based at nearby research station Scott Base which is run by New Zealand. We have open access to McMurdo so I created this tour to show you around! I took one of our Toyota Landcruisers, grabbed a friend and recorded a full lap of the station showing everything including the hospital, fire station, church, gym, laundry, accommodation, storage areas, kitchen and galley, water production and treatment plant, power plant, offices and much much more!

I have spent over 400 days in Antarctica over 8 trips and will be uploading hundreds of exciting videos about what it’s like to live and work in Antarctica.
