good story. one note though: the word "decimated" actually means "reduced by one tenth" (apologies for current users of the English language who can barely write cursive, do simple math, or use an analog clock). "decimated" comes from Latin, it describes the Roman practice of military units being required to randomly kill one out of every ten of their number as punishment for some collective crime (like cowardice or disobedience). historically, losing a tenth of your soldiers in battle was considered "light" casualties. instead, try using words like "destroyed", "shattered", or one of their convenient synonyms to describe serious loses in battle…
"taught him more than hand to hand combat, skilled in anticipation and reaction….What part of any of that is not hand to hand combat? Dumber and dumber the deeper into this story it gets.
