US farmers beg Trump to stop the trade war and save American farming. But it’s already too late.

American soybean farmers are realizing industry-wide losses, as crop prices fall and farm expenses soar.

China is the number one export destination for US soybeans. But China recently slapped 10% tariffs of US soybean imports in retaliation for President Trump’s tariffs on Chinese goods.

Farmers are urging Trump to reverse course and make a trade deal with China, and thereby restore their markets. But Chinese soybean buyers were already moving away from US sources, and replacing US beans with Brazil’s.

Across all the major crops, BRICS countries are both supplying and consuming half the world’s grains, and doing so outside our commodities exchanges, and at lower prices. Even were the tariffs to go away, the BRICS grain exchanges and China’s own self-sufficiency drives will permanently eliminate most of the G7’s export markets.

  2. Every opportunity a country has to trade should nit be missedโ€ฆ and protection of farms is something we do in Canadaโ€ฆ itโ€™s goal should be to even out the peaks and valleysโ€ฆ I fear that subsidies and tariffs often weaken the industryโ€ฆ but somehow we all need to try to minimize increases in prices and look for savings that can benefit the industryโ€ฆ the whole world has to adopt a policy of cushioning industry from gigantic instability. Itโ€™s an ongoing struggleโ€ฆ but we canโ€™t give up because the strength of the industry is how much security we gain with any bumper crops, and we want to stabilize access to food for the neediest of countries tooโ€ฆthe war in Ukraine has not been a good thing forfood security either.

  3. China should look to other markets to buy its soya beans. China has no obligation to save USA soya bean farmers. If they cant compete in Trump's tarriff environment then let them fail; that's Trump's world.

  4. If you check China's imports, they import the most soybeans from Brazil, pork from Spain and the Netherlands (EU),beef from Brazil and Argentina (South America), ore and coal from Australia, dairy from New Zealand and the Netherlands. The US share will be replaced even these countries increase their production a little bit.

  5. All China needs to do is to help Brazil to grow their middle class, US market does not matter too much anymore. Same for Africa and Asean countries. China dominance is on the wall.

  6. Why are they begging him or are you just spouting wishful thinking. Farmers have nothing to worry about Trump will give them aid. Middle and lower income people will pay for it on their taxes.

  7. HELLO. You people don't know what you are talking about. Soybean and corn prices have risen since the tariffs began. Farmers are in the midst of getting. $10 billion dollar bail out right now.

The tariffs are not the reason. Brazil is the reason. They are cutting down the rain forest and producing way more soybeans and corn than the world can use. Right now soybean inventories are almost at a years worth of world demand. Brazil is busy harvesting more right now. This is the off-season for USA exports. No one has been affected yet.

I swear people. Stop listening to morons like this and do your own research. I am a farmer and know what the hell is going on. It's my business to know.

  8. this morning saw that the next one is coming. shipping port fees. U cant make this stuff up!
I was watching a clip from bc cn (reverse) with some high manager from some shipping company saying they will go banktupt becoz they cant afford those fees…insanitycracy is here.

any shipping company that has 1 ship made in china, even if they do not use that ship for shipping in america are going to be taxed by tonnage of cargo.

  9. In 2024, The number of STEM undergraduate students in China stands at 7.7 million, while in the United States it is 2.2 million, of which 700,000 are international students. And a large part of this 700,000 came from China.

2024, China's total power generation was twice that of the United States. And China's industrial electricity consumption was 6 times that of the United States.

China shipbuilding ccapacity is 280 times that of the United States.

China's production capacity in almost all metals exceeds that of all other countries in the world combined.

China's control over rare earth metals is 100%. These rare earth metals are vital to advanced electronic equipment, semiconductors and defense industry. Simply put, there would be no high-end chips without rare earth metals.

I don't know who will win the trade war, I just don't know how China could lose.

If we want to talk about industries related to modern warfare, such as chemical, explosives. machinery, heavy industry and other related production capacity, China has even greater advantages, I won't discuss it in detail here.

One example, in 2015, China produced 500,000 excavators.
There is no much difference between producing an excavator and producing a tank.

Russia, which is fighting the entire NATO arsenal right now, has only 12,000 tanks.

The world needs peace. Don't turn China into your enemy for some nonsense. Mr Trump.

  10. The crazy part of this is that US farmers been thete before, during Trumps first team. Becayse of the then Tariff war, the US farm industry occured losses of up 28 billion US dollars and needed to be bsiled out.
Yet these sane farmers voted for Trump a second time hoping for a different outcome even thought Trump 2.0 told the eirld that he would place even higher tariffs on China than the last time.
At so.e point, the US voter has to take responsibility for their political choices.

  11. So I guess these struggling US soybean farmers will end up selling their farms to the likes of Bill Gates. THAT is another problem of US agriculture. Perhaps the unemployed will be coerced to work on Gates' latifundia dotted throughout the US where work really does set you free.

  12. I truly feel sorry for the American people who are paying the price for these irresponsible psychopath policies. The US is host to a mafia that does not care about the people.

  13. Already forgotten Trump' first term failure with tariffs on imports from China in 2018.
China retaliated in stopping soybean purchases from USA, Trump' government spent then some 30 billion to compensation for farmers losses.
This time Trump' worldwide trade war will cost much more – to the USA including the farmers.
Especially is much better prepared for this trade war.
