As a private pilot myself since 1986, although you may be based at a smaller uncontrolled airport, make sure your training time INCLUDES regularly flying into and out of busy tower controlled airports so that you get substantial experience dealing with busy private and commercial traffic, including radio etiquette. I learned to fly at John Wayne Airport. (SNA.or Santa Ana in Orange County, CA) As you build experience, eventually you'll probably want to fly to a larger city. IMO, busy commercial airports are no place for pilots who are uncomfortable with the logistics. It's a huge safety issue too. Enjoy flying!
