Solar Panel Install – Mounting to the roof of the woodshed
The ground is thawing allowing us to finally lift our panels up and mount them on top of the woodshed. The roof is already set to the ideal angle and facing south. A nerve-wracking move, but well worth it in the end.
We will be coming back to this project for a few more finishing touches as everything finishes thawing such as getting the ground rod all the way into the ground, silicone our screw holes under the panels, and finish all the electrical. But for now the panels are in working order in their final resting place.

You. It scares the shit out of me!
15:03 um what is holding the solar panels to the frame, just gravity? Those need to be locked down before a micro burst comes thru and takes hundreds if not thousands of dollars away from you.❤❤
14:04 sorry Cody that’s just asking for trouble, whenever you want to do something crazy, foolish just remember how far from a medical center you are. Better yet how much you couldn’t do while in a cast.
Kody listen to your wife.
This is just an accident waiting to happen!
A bucket of hot water might thaw out the ground by your ground rod.
Congratulations!
Привіт з України. Ви діти заставили бабушку так сильно хвилюватись(. Добре що все скінчилось добре. І Коді про драбину- Лорі була права!!!.
Guys …………… what a nail biting video. Cody was crazy climbing that ladder that was barely sitting on the roof. Glad you got them up and working.
Lorie you're 100% right!! Cody listen to your wife.
You are right and before Cody does anything I think he should ask your opinion first. We don't want another arm incident.
You are. An unbalanced ladder is dynamite. Also be careful on stray voltage in the roofing. It can cause galvanic corrosion, not a good thing. Grounding it doesn't remove it. The low power galvanic corrosion will deteriorate your roof over time significantly shortening its useful life. It is also acceptable to dig a trench in the soil and run your rod horizontally, either way you need several feet in the ground. Talk to the manufacturer as to what he would suggest with your leads to remove the errant voltage. Not a bad thing to do, grounding the roof deck. Use a large conductor and it would protect in a lighting strike.
Cody listen to your wife when it comes to doing stupid and dangerous stuff. Lmao
Well, let’s see…Cody’s hurt himself 3 times, is it 3 or 2? This last time was bad, so yeah, you’re right, don’t climb up to the steep roof with only half the ladder laying on the roof! Otherwise, nice work you two, that was a hard one and ahead of schedule!
That ladder is not safe
goods job
Absolutely, the ladder shouldn't be climbed like that Lori. The panels look good. Hopefully the ground rod can be put down soon.
Use the forks on the skid steer to drive the ground rod down
sorry Cody she was right, I just look at your previous luck LOL
Hi from Colorado Springs 😀 homestead looks awesome
I've watched you two, from the beginning point of leaving Wisconsin. OMG, accident prone doesn't begin to cover it.
-Chipped & dirty windshield
-Damaged Camper roof
-Wonky 36ft trailer, broke
-Running low on gas, dodging wild fires
-Car sick dog
-Transmission problems
-Leaving your work boots at Moms
-Terrible driveway and bridge crossing to your new Alaskan property
-Water Well digging, nightmare
-Burned up your truck
-Cody's broken foot
-Cody's broken wrist
And sooooo much more! I was seriously holding my breath while you two struggled to get those solar panels up! Thank God Rowen is safe.
You two have courage, that's for sure!
Btw, I like your workshop building better than your house. Have you ever thought of switching it up?
On the edge of my seat (in Indiana) watching and praying for you!
Thanks, looking good. ✌🏻👊🏼
One of these days Cody will acknowledge the wife (Lori) is always right!!
Really Sketchy
This was nail biting to watch. Thank goodness the panels are up and nobody got injured. Cody listen to your wife!! Safety first. In the future you may want to add more panels on the right. Nice to know you are already getting power into the house. Have a good week.
You can't ground in to wood that rod isn't long enough & u really need to either ask some one or read about some stuff that could be dangerous to you ur home ur family's life even this is why they have codes in most places after people died !!!! And yeah she was right to a point & could at least tied off the ladder how
Wow u guys are going to learn one of the times that the easy way isn't always the smart or safe way guess if you got $ to take chances with but if it goes bad how fare is the ER from you & will you make it there and she for got to add stupid but god bless and good buck
Sorry, Cody wife's right. I've always been a daredevil! But if i could take it all back, I would save some aches and pains later🤕🥴🤪❤ love how you work together.
That was the sketchiest thing I’ve ever seen!,,
Glad he listened to you…he’s smart about that😊…most men won’t
You both are impressive.
Thanks for another Alaskan adventure!
