China’s first independently developed humanoid robot, Tiangong, has achieved a new milestone in mobility by successfully completing an outdoor hike in Beijing’s Haiziqiang Park.
Video footage shows the bipedal robot running along a riverside before climbing over 100 steep stairs, demonstrating enhanced perception and locomotion capabilities.
Developed by the National and Local Co-built Embodied AI Robotics Innovation Center, Tiangong stands 163 cm tall, weighs 43 kg, and can run at speeds of 6-12 km/h. The world’s first fully electric humanoid robot, it became open-source in November 2024.
Beijing authorities have pledged continued support for AI robotics innovation, aiming for practical applications in various industries.
