Solid Light is Real?! Scientists Create Light Supersolid – A New State of Matter!
Scientists Convert Light into Solid Matter?! | Photonic Supersolid & Frozen Light Explained
Can you imagine holding light in your hand—like a crystal, solid and real?
Today we explore one of the most extraordinary breakthroughs in physics: scientists freezing light into a solid form. Yes, light has been turned into matter, forming what’s called a photonic supersolid—a strange new state where light behaves like both a solid and a liquid.

Polaritons are not light. When light propagate through a solid it interacts with the electron system with its transversal polarized electro-magnetic vector. The result of this interaction are polaritons which also interact in a respons on the electro-magnetic vector of the light. Polaritons are quasi-particles which propagate together with the light through the crystal lattice. The typical result is a reduced velocity of the light within the crystal lattice.
In principle light has some kind of "solid properties" also in vacuum, because it is a transversal polarized wave. The polariton lattice is a very special kind of super-solid which is comparable with the super-fluid state of helium with respect to sound waves. The super-fluid state is a very special kind of the solid state because it has not only longitudinal but also transversal sound like other solid matters.
In both cases these "excites states" of matter have nothing in common with our well known solid materials. In the super-fluid state we find a sound-phonon interaction which is typical for solid materials, but this super-solid is in fact super-liquid because it shows no viscosity. In the case of super-solid light there is no electro-magnetic damping of the polariton system, which carries the light. So you can hold this special kind of light in the material for ever.
It ist just like the super-current you can carry for ever in a closed superconducting loop, like in the application of MRI imaging systems. So you can build very strong "permanent magnets". In this case the super-current is carried by electron-phonon interaction. The quasi-particles in this case are the so called Cooper pairs, which can propagate through the crystal lattice without scattering losses.
Lets use this knowledge to develop lightsabre technology. For science.
The reference is not here and google scolar does not have the paper. This AI driven peice is a bit lacking in depth or details. Lazy work
So… hello Zeus?
So uhhh, hows your day? I was supposed to go to sleep but i saw this and now im here.
So basically with this new understanding. Lightsabers can actually be real because normally light would pass through each other so the Star Wars lightsabers before were unrealistic. Now they could strike each other. So lightsabers in this universe and this galaxy close close. Could one day make true? Lightsabers
Do polaratons have magnetic properties could you use them to make a space elevator, a thing like a maglev for light
a lot of the new science words in this video sound like they came right out of Wesley Crusher's mouth from Star Trek: The Next Generation and I can't help but imagine AI enabled NPCs that solidify on demand and do things for us, like the holographic doctor on Star Trek: Voyager.
Light doesn't have mass, but they (photons) simulate having mass, the way they affect things at a smaller scale, IE, smaller photons
Wormholes have particles called gravatinos, as do black holes, which are compressed waves of photons, which could have much mass, if they became matter, however in the environment they find themselves in, they are not matter, just light…
Enough of these can become a Graviton, a massive Sphere of Gravatinos, all quantumly entangled by gravity in the physical world around them
These are found at the center of galaxies
And, by affecting smaller particles, which collide, and become matter, as they pass through
Can create bio-organic compounds
Which is why the Center of the Milky Way smells like Raspberries.
Si, yo todos los días desayuno con una taza de luz solida y algunas galletitas…
Yesterday I stumbled over a chunk of solid light and hurt my knee badly.
So, a bit early for April !
So Halo was right all this time? 😂😂😂
Brings a whole new aspect to the fleshlight.
