The Castle of Dr. Brain – Macintosh – Playthru – Part 8

Part 8 of my playthru of The Castle of Dr. Brain by Sierra for the Macintosh. Let me repeat, this game was played on an emulated Mac 7.5.5 Operating System. And this game was the Macintosh version of it. But the only difference it makes is what the sound and music is like. But I still like the Mac version better than the DOS version.

Depicted in this part is the 2nd elevator, the crossword puzzle, and the puzzle that follows that one. Those who would like to play the game themselves are advised to set their computer’s date to sometime before 1993, as the game stalls once the crossword is solved if the date is anytime after 1992. Changing the date while the game is stalled will un-stall it, and I haven’t a clue why it stalls or unstalls.

The elevator is easy for me, even on expert mode with all the maps out of order, because, as I have said before, I love mazes. Pity the elevator mazes never change, as I have played this game enough to have them mostly memorized. But I still enjoy them anyway.

The crossword puzzle on expert mode requires you to find all 25 words listed in the Top Secret Decoder Grid, a copy of which, as I should have mentioned earlier, can be found on the relevant Mac Garden page (look up “Castle of Dr. Brain” on the Garden, the decoder grid is the third image on the page for the game). Also in the crossword are names of the people who worked on the game. I find a few of those as well.

After the crossword puzzle, the puzzle that follows has us try to figure out which words go where in order to spell another two words. The key is that all the words are a type of what the word to be spelled out is.

The magic words are: “Parlor Games”.

All rights go to whoever they rightfully belong. Playthru videos such as this are Fair Use.
