The US Navy, as ever, is looking into new cutting edge technology and in this case, they’re looking at underwater robots. As we all know it’s tricky to get people under the waves and keep them there for long clandestine survey missions so the logical alternative is robots. But robots do have a downside; they need batteries and batteries run out fairly quickly so the robot either has to be tethered, which limits its depth and its sneakiness or the battery powered UUV has to sneak in and get back before the battery runs out.
