TCAS must always remain on and nobody should be able to turn it off.
Military should of copped most of the blame and been charged
Saibam que para nós, a maioria dos brasileiros, e eu me incluo nesse grupo, não culpamos apenas o nosso ATC, mas também culpamos "SEUS" pilotos…
U guys spent too much time blaming the traffic controllers and too little time talking about the pilots not talking with traffic controllers and why/how they turned off the tcas, which was a major factor for the accident, u guys spent 5 min in that😢 that’s kinda bias
My personal opinion is all aviation related professions should be able to communicate with good English….
What about the Boeing TCAS? TCAS is supposed to be a two-way communication system, but idk if it is designed to react if one of the planes don't respond to the TCAS command. Say in this case, the legacy TCAS was fault or if the pilots didn't react to it, the Boeing TCAS should recalculate a new altitude and ask the Boeing to fly in it. They should add an acknowledge button to the TCAS & if one of the planes don't acknowledge, TCAS of the other planee should recalculate and redirect the second plane to the new altitude
Seems difficult to pin 'faults' and 'responsibility' for this collision down to anyone specific. From my understanding, there is a significant level of trust that has to be placed in the equipment used by both pilots and ATC and if there is failure, ambiguity, or lack of understanding/training regarding some elements/features of equipment then accidents result – really then, who do you attribute the final blame to? The jets pilots weren't flying according to the flight plan, but apparently that's not so unusual as ATC can adjust this based on the traffic conditions at the time (but perhaps confirmation should be asked for); the controller misinterpreted the readout on his screen about the altitude – this can be viewed as a training deficiency, as poor design of the system being used etc. Then the transponder was off and no one was aware – again, design issue with the transponders itself for not alerting pilots as well as design issue with ATC system for not alerting controllers in a more definite way – changing a single character on screen may not be enough when a controller is managing multiple aircraft. I'm not in the industry but based on what was presented in this video, it appears to have been a combination of equipment designs, equipment failures, and the human element that all aligned negatively to result in this accident. How does one truly ascribe blame??
A transponder seems like a way too critical piece of equipment to refurbish and reuse….
Four sets of eyes and no one saw an impending mid-air. There's the first problem. But the real take-away is when you fly in a third-world country, remember you're not in Kansas any more.
The pilots of the small jet were the culprits in the midair collision and should have faced very serious criminal charges.. I believe commercial and diplomatic factors have in this case been given precedence over human life, especially the lives of passengers and crew of the 737..
Overworked and inexperienced, two words that have no place in ATC.
2:07 , that seat in the right corner is not right. Fancy Sofa leather seats on the left
37:11 anyone else notice TCAS is off. Might be some foreshadowing
Screen: 370=360
ATC : Fine by me 😂
The incapable Air traffic controllers, who unknowingly let the planes to collide are charged with murders….. But the authorities who knowingly appointed incapable Air traffic controllers are let go….
Does anyone know what the punishment was for the two aircraft controllers?
Anything man made has a great expectation that it could fail at anytime. I feel that the air traffic controllers were not responsible for this tragic accident. It had pilots that were not totally trained to fly the plane as I noticed one of the pilots trying to familiarize himself with the controls during the flight. I also feel that the air traffic controllers are the scapegoats because they were the lowest on the totem pole. If the manufacturer of this aircraft were to be found guilty there would have been hundreds of lawsuits coming. I believe that the charges against these aircraft controllers should be dismissed and they should be fully reinstated to their original positions. AMEN!!! PEACE ❤❤❤
30:50 Shouldn't the differing altitudes be flagged somehow, visually?
45:50 OH NOOOO….
How could the controller be oblivious of the meaning of those numbers? That’s ridiculous! His luck of curiosity is also a cause.
Beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep whoop whoop pull up whoop pull up
This is clear reason why TCAS should be mandatory for ALL aircraft across the entire world airspace. If you’re in the air, regardless of what kind of aircraft you’re in, TCAS should be required! No chances taken for safety for all parties in the aviation industry. 💯🙏
such silly and childish mistakes.these people are taking human life for granted.all avoidable mistakes.
Muitos elos funestos foram se conectando desde a decolagem do Legacy até a fatalidade. Considero o desligamento do transponder do Legacy o mais aterrador de todos.
Early warning system ? When other aircraft heading towards yours
The flight plan is requested altitudes and changes, if atc say fly direct at altitude that overrides the requested 1000 descent on the flight plan.
Incompetence of ATC caused it.
Modern airplane can barely fly just a small damaged on a wing tip. While to low tech B17 can fly despite the damaged from brutal attack. Modern plane high tech easy to go down despite minor damage. Low tech B17 can fly severely damaged
Planeful of executives. Every one of them dying to take charge yet knowing nothing about flying.
The pilots should have questioned why their assigned altitude was different from the planned altitude.
It's hard to believe that the tip of the wing of a private jet would cut the wing off a 737 clean off its unbelievable and scary but blame in this case was wrong it wasn't there fault
It was lucky the investigators were professional and wearnt swayed by the military like in some countries, but very sad indeed
The animation of the GOL plane crash though.. it shows how the people rained from the sky
Manufacturers' need to make it impossible to turn off TCAS, Transponders—or any other safety feature meant to prevent a crash. And why haven't the black (actually orange) boxes been reinforced and have the beacon last longer than 30 days? Errors on all sides led to this crash. Make a single mistake w/ your fancy coffee maker is not a disaster. Make it up in the air at 37K feet=tragic loss of life. Air traffic control must have uniform displays worldwide. The buck stops @ Brazilian Air Force bears most of the responsibility. They tried to make ATC the scapegoat cover their own incompetence. RIP🙏🏻
