  1. Agree, one of the best vehicles built since Mercedes made great cars before1990, PROVIDING you have a brain, understand how to maintain them and SERVICE them at half the LR interval and I suggest oil changes every 5K to 7 K miles.
    Simple

  2. The reason that you have padded shift is that it’s a face lift mode, post 2013, reference to Ulez post from @ pa1668 it you have a late 2015 model then it will be a Euro 6 engine or if a Euro 5 discovery 4 then you can have it converted to euro 6 spec and then it’s Ulez compliment and clean air or what ever you want to refer to it as, then Mr Khan can not do a thing about it, the conversion is cheaper then buying D5, happy days.

  3. Interesting video – I bought my silver D4 Landmark a year ago from a Land Rover dealer with a full LR guarantee – 1 previous owner and only 34k on the clock. Cost me a lot more than yours, though.

As I want to keep this a long time I had the underside Lanoguarded and I also replaced most of the fillament bulbs with LED equivalents – the rear fog ane reversing lights were especially good as they are so bright you can actually see properly when you are reversing at night. I also replaced the front fogs with sealed LED ones (all from PowerfulUK).

The Discovery 4 really IS the perfect vehicle – I have just driven 1,100 miles across Europe even getting at high as over 110mph on the Autobahn in Germany – but as the mpg dropped to only 25 I tended to cruise at about 90 where I got about 33mpg (38mpg in the roadworks when driving at 50mph). But then, it is also perfect on the mountain roads and trails in the Alps. There is no vehicle like it.

Also, it's the only vehicle I have ever owned that is so nice to drive I don't mind being in a traffiuc jam.

Insorance – mine is about £1,200pa na dthat does include full business use and the Hi-Pro device I had fitted to improve mpg – my old insurance wanted to charge me about £1,700 for the same thing and several would not insure at all or wanted well over £2k pa.

Land Rover will be doing a security update for my D4 later this year, I had a letter from them a couple of weeks ago. Also there is now a "sleeping battery" available that has a motion sensor that disconnects the battery if no movent is detected after about 3-minutes, preventing anyone remotely cloning the key at night.

  4. I had a Disco 3 for 14 years and i enjoyed every moment of it. It did have a few problems but what car doesn't . Unfortunately Ulez charge here in London and the cost to insure made me sell it.I still go on Auto Trader and look occasionally for a 2016 model but my sensible head kicks in…..Great video by the way, made me laugh and i agree with all that you said…

  5. Good vid, i just piked up mr 3rd but 1st L405 Range Rover the other week. I absolutely love them. But key good service history and ideally lower mileage but key service early and don’t skimp. But I’ve found them to be more reliable than some so called reliable cars. But key is it will wear bushings and wear able items quicker but it’s a big 4×4 it will. But the moment you don’t look after them it will bite back. If you buy one that’s been abused it will sting and probably be a nightmare equally be aware of common faults. Partly why i chose the sdv8 4.4 tends to be pretty bone proof amongst its serviced often and keep an eye on the oil cooler. Also helps if you’re mechanically minded and also know a decent specialist due to some workshops just fire the parts cannon at them other a simple fix like for a sensor.

  6. Your totally nuts! disco3/4 should carry the trophy for the worst and most unreliable car and hardest to fix ever. Only reason it doesn’t currently have that trophy as it’s new little JLR sister has the inginium engine.
Anyone wants to disagree needs to have at least done suspension arm bushes brake pipes and a turbo on one!
Take the ghost off and keep it for the next car and hope a tea leaf has the balls to try hes luck.
