Thanks for having me on guys, this was a blast! And some really kind comments in here too. Neil – as I said, I'd love to have you jump on the subway and join me for a @CoolWorldsPodcast episode if you can!
🛸 Hello earthlings.
The stars don't need to eject material in an opposing direction to the rotation in order to slow down the rotation, it's enough if the angular momentum of the entire system is preserved, and the particles just go outward on average. I'm not sure though how strong such a slow-down would be, and if it would be sufficient to explain the observed effect.
Neil please answer this. I love your shows in the UK. If I drop a golf ball from the top of a 20 storey building the ball will contact the ground. Is this due only to the fact that the earth is coming up to meet the ball at 9.8m/s 2 and very little to do with gravity?
Remember when Neil gave the analogy of having 100 people flip a coin and that the odds are 1 person will flip heads 100 times… well… isn’t there a flaw there. It assumes the last two people standing have a zero chance of flipping tails. If they both flip tails, no universe with life. Sooo we are special. Thank you.
People say it’s unlikely we will ever even reach the nearest stars other than our own, when we can clearly see the three closest stars to our Sun in this very episode.
People guided by the researchers governed by the scientists must strive to build a scientifically innovative and productive, human friendly and environmentally friendly, democratically-economically-
socially pogressive and culturally transformative dignified human world of peace and harmony where human beings would live with Love, liberty, justice, dignity, harmony, Brotherhood, humanity, joy and peace as their basic human rights….
🤡
Star Talk and Cool Worlds awesome thank you all great show. 🌏🌍🌎
You mentioned finding life on other worlds. If we find life on other worlds, will we recognize as life, or would it be so different from life on Earth we wouldn't recognize it as life?
I’m not a Patreon member but please debunk the new conspiracy theory that the Earth has expanded in the last 600m years. It flatly denies plate tectonics ever existed and the reason the continents “came apart” was because the Earth started smaller and expanded like a balloon.
Actually it’s an old theory before plate tectonics were discovered but coming back to haunt us like dark ages 2.0
Have him on the show often.

Compras una finca muy grande y crea una nueva economía por tú. Mucho dinero con producción de comida económico.
I can hardly wait for the HWO to debut!
Theorist? Observer? More like a passionate science educator the way I sese it.
chuck has perfect hairline.
Are any of these other planets Flat like the Earth? 😅
Love when two of my favorite science YouTube channels do a cross over!
Doppler raidar
If I wasn’t high I wouldn’t understand any of this. 😂
The evolution of one Mr. Chuck Nice from guest comedian/host to a resident scientist is damn awesome 🔥
As always, love you guys and thank you ❤
Great stuff, but too many ads! I grow weary stopping what I am doing to tap skip.
Idk but the reunion of our sun and its siblings seems catastrophic in terms of energy quantity
Three adverts in just 13 minutes, I'm embarrassed for you
#startalk i bought backyard telescope (cheap) but now my problem is i don't know what to try find from the sky…
So can you make episode of "what can you find with even binoculars" and add to that what can you find if you know what you are looking at.
Pretty please 🥺
exo-Centaurs too? Im guessing yeah. gl finding them dude!
I’d love a mission like voyager. With the capability to send back very very high quality images being a portion of the way there. So closer shots of andromeda, or othegr close ish things to us
Dr. Kipping is one of my favorite YouTube narrators out there. I LOVE his Cool Worlds videos. And, not in an offensive way, he puts me to sleep with his videos. I usually need to watch his videos 2 or 3 times, giving him those extra views, to catch it all as I usually fall asleep during them. But, nit in a boring way. His voice is just so damn soothing it puts me to sleep!
Another great episode Neil and Lord Nice!
Petition to remove Chuck from the show entirely…
his bad jokes add nothing for me
i‘m here for science & brilliance and Neil is plenty funny
I really like Neil deGrasse Tyson because he's never bought into the hippie science for show (e.g. JRE guests, Rogan himself, youtube videos about nonsense…etc.). He's a man of science, character, and integrity.
This show is great. Chuck is as cool as Neil thinks himself to be.
Ahhh omfg this episode is a banger! & Im dying to watch Chuck's special!
Why our Solar System is special? 🤔🤔
That's easy to answer, because Earth is blessed with having United States of Murica! 😎😎
Yes! This is the colab I was hoping for!
Holy cow, both of you guys are my favorite personalities and I have followed you two for a while now and I’m happy to see you guys talking shop.
Hopefully more to come yeah.
If the human race was transplanted to a water planet with very little land. How many years/generations would pass before humans would become fully underwater dwelling? Would our earth origins always affect our ability to evolve. Or would we adapted so far to the point that our original planets origins would disappear completely?
Is earth or earth type planet actually humans origin planet?
I just learned that technically the sun is only 20 galactic years old.
Grat talk. But i think that kiplings teories on moons (wich i listen in a lex podcast) where not explored like it should. But the chemistry was great and you are so close.. maybe we need a part 2.
My 2 favorite channels converge!
I love this video! thanks for that! I do think that, like me, at least 2 out of 3 people in this video have had some beers before recording this video ;)
Chuck: Funderdome
We are alone kipping knows this
16:58 even if a star wobbles vertically and edge-on like a giant wheel (AKA Ferris wheel), we should still be able to detect its blue and red shifts, right?
18:14 Where Sol was formed is most important in determining the anomalous Gold content of our planet. Were we lucky? Was our cloud of genesis Gold rich? If so how :-) 25:20 Think of a Merry Go Round, throwing kids off! wow that's dark :-)
