Those garden fence posts are extremely weak. You can take one hand and bend them in half. They are only meant to support chicken wire.
What idiot uses a level on your phone? This guys is a joke.
Any thoughts on snow weight with this strategy?
Lol cyber truck in the background ,not hating just observationing
Thank you so much for this. I just purchased 15 more panels and was wondering how I was going to mount them off the side of a bank. This looks like it’s going to work perfect should be easily reinforced. I’m going to put my two by fours in an L shape that way the solar panels can just lay on top and I can put the Mid clamps between each of them
Good Idea! 👍 subscribed
My idea to test light reflection to the bottom of the BiFacial panels is to have plywood underneath painted with white reflective paint.
Can't wait to test that
3:30 "safety factor"? The next storm will have unsecured trampolines, unsecured patio umbrellas,& now unsecured solar panels blowing through the neighborhood. maybe at least try and tie it down to a cinder block or something to each post?
😂😂😂
Super awesome !
I’ve been laboring for a month now how to set mine up without a permanent and labor intensive setup. Splendid option 🤜💥🤛
Thank you for this great idea! I bought the 24-pack hanger off of Amazon from your link. Please keep doing DIY solar videos like this!
I live on a farm and use T Posts for many projects. This is a great idea. T Posts have incredible strength against uplift and it often takes my tractor to pull one out of the ground. They will last over 50 years so the only thing I’d consider is how to secure that bracket that mounts on the T Posts. You could probably just use some baling wire and tie it off to the post in place. Anytime you can mount panels for less than $50 each, you’re doing pretty good! Most ready made mounting systems will end up costing $75-$100 per panel.👍☀️⚡️🤩🌞🔋
First strong wind says "NO"….
Cyclone fence posts and pipe hangers are what I used for my semi-permanent system.
I do like this idea for the ease and speed like you mentioned. I am trying to go cheaper and spending a little more time building one out of wood that can be semi mobile. Problem is I do want the height so I've been stuck in the design phase for months
Nice job
its crazy that the rack/mounting solution can be 50-70% as expensive as the solar panels themselves. this is a smart idea. if you just tension the two posts together from where you cut off the t post to the ground of the adjacent one, i bet it would be able to take some serious wind.
Well temporary or not there is the WAF…the wife acceptance factor…
This is brilliant for someone just starting out in solar, not knowing where it will take them but not ready to roof mount yet.
That's a wonderful idea for a temporary fixture. I had been playing with ideas on how to prevent the sun from roasting us via our kitchen window during the hottest summer months, and this may be just the answer I needed.
Dont those rods rust fast?
Very clever
You should put a Concrete Deck Block underneath the 1st panel to raise it off the ground. They are pretty cheap at Home Depot
Thanks for this, please do more Cheap DIY projects for all of us!!!!!
I'm super into the dirt cheap mounting videos. I did have an idea that Im still fleshing out.
Mounting two panels (in the same orientation that you just did in this video) on to two horizontally mounted, 2" to 3" chain-link fence posts. Bolting the front two ends of the bottom fence post to a cinder blocks. Then using something like these t-posts to support the back of the panels.
Excellent design I think you could do ratchet straps and bent rebar into the ground for the wind kudos
This is great! Thanks for sharing. Before seeing this i was considering a Vevor Pipe Stand with u bolts as it can withstand a couple of hundred pounds, not that expensive, and no digging required. Curious if that is something you would consider for semi temporary reasons (i am renting).
What a great idea. I just bought 3 200W renogy panels on sale for Labor Day. My goal is to get another 3 for the next sale. I was thinking of buying bi-facial but opted against it as we get quite a few hailstorms throughout the year. I'm doing two mobile ground mounts using 4x4s and 2x4s treated lumber. Just bought 8- 10" pneumatic caster wheels from Harbor Freight's. My yard is surrounded by trees from the neighbors so I have to chase the sun. They will be adjustable so that I can lay them flat for when we have our storms and don't get blown away. I love your idea because I could use your set up at the beach to lean my folding panels for when I go fishing and camping. Thanks for sharing.
This is a genius cheap, quick, easy way to ground-mount! PLEASE do more videos on any other great ideas people post in the comments! One of my favorite ideas you've done so far!
You can make the ground mount much more rigid with the Wedge LOC 205 Corner & Inline Brace Set and some DIY inspiration. Google it! Thanks for a great channel!
That's a very good idea my only worry is winds. You get much if any wind there?
