You can do this on 10 cloudy days and get 10 very different results..no way can you be confident of any results others “ some power” …as they get warmer it will lower production…
Hi Just a suggestion why not try putting clear Epoxy with Uv residents on it, it will fill in the creaks as it levels out and it should put out more power
You can get a liquid for windscreens that have been hit by pebble. It goes into the cracks and make them invisible. Ots a type of glue. Try that, i think it can fix your panel to look brand new :) please make it into a video if you do it
I would love to see a test of ground mounts at different heights to see if the back side makes more power being higher off the ground.
I would be interested in testing them as if they were mounted on an apartment balcony railing.
Also test the bifacial output with a white sivler and a dark under surface. Ie roof painted colour.
Nice work on the video, sir! This is good information.
I wonder if ypu could find a liquid to fill the crack panel to help it?
Results aren't bad for being a completely cloudy day. Very nice!
It would be interesting to see what the output is when the panel is completely vertical (fence system)
Would be interesting to test the bifacial panels mounted vertically in an East-West orientation.
the shattered panel is not completely shattered. only the upper layer of glass is shattered.
bificials are like securit compound glas windshields. glass/pva foil/glas and BiFa panels ofc got the silicon modules as the inbetween layer.
in cloudy conditions, I've also seen about 10-25% of rated output from my older poly and mono solar panels.
Average Joe what replicating the test with a sheet of reflective material behind on both the front and back exposure test respectively. Enjoy your videos! Maybe polished aluminium or alfoil on a sheet with of ply?
Nothing really beats the big industrial size panels.
Water ingress on that cracked panel will short it out eventually. You could protect it by applying a coat of clear epoxy, otherwise it will crap out after a few rainy days.
Many solar panels put all the cells in series. Big panels like the ones you are testing are sometime arranged as two set of series cells in parallel. The panels you are testing are clearly arranged that way, based on the output voltage. If all 108 cells were in series the Vmp would be double what your tester is showing. So half the broken panel is completely dead, and the other half is working normally, (even if it looks like it is damaged.)
Thanks Joe
Nice panels brother.
Purrfect 🤜🏼🔥🤛🏼
Mix petrol with styrofoam, make it solutions and coat it , rub it in and remove the😢top film after it is slightly dry, you will repair your panel and prevent moisture damage
Enjoyed the video thanks for sharing
what are your standard panels giving same condition?
I have a feeling that the top half of the panel (where it got the major hit) isn't working, and that's why you're getting half the output.
Maybe put some Lacquer on it to keep it from falling apart may as well test the crap out of it.
Great little tests Joe ! Love that tester
Morning Joe. Laminate the broken panel. My father in law suggested it. 40.3 KW on house cloudy day end of winter still here.
Not a bad idea to put a few on the ground mount and a few up on the roof and see how much difference, obviously if the ones on the roof are up near the crest it will make more power over the course of a day than on the ground mount that has shade until noon. Maybe on the Ground mounted ones also try putting something reflective behind them like a mirror or something that refects light. Tests are fun and interesting.
This video seemed "Sirius," so I dropped everything (except a solar panel) and watched! Please, hold the applause! 👏 🙌
JOE, NOT BOOOOM, BUT CRAAACK!
THANKS FOR SHARING!
As always great content.
Broken power. Good idea for a test. 43 is not dead but the back side is interesting 29 but if you move it to the mount and have a white or reflective ground. What then ???
Why dont you try putting somethign white or reflective under the panel to see if it increases the refletive under the pannel to see if it incress the output. This would be a intresting test.
Nice, feel the BOOOOOM ;)
