1947 is a pivotal year: The British Empire crumbles as India and Pakistan gain independence amidst violence and mass migration. Truman launches a Cold War against Soviet communism, while spies infiltrate governments worldwide. Nations sign treaties reshaping Europe; Chuck Yeager breaks the sound…

1947 saw the world fundamentally change—from the fall of empires to rising Cold War tensions. But what event do you think had the biggest long-term impact? Let us know your thoughts below!
Don't watch the food cook : ).
The young Queen Elizabeth was kinda cute 🙂
Great episode as always. I was slightly disappointed you didn't mention what actually crashed in Roswell New Mexico was a result of Project Mogul. A high altitude balloon lunched by the US army to detect long distance sound waves from Soviet atomic bomb tests. I suppose aliens are a more entertaining notion though.
Thank You
I hear there is this Dr. Frederic Wertham dude starting to make hay about comic books. I don’t think it will amount to anything like comic book burnings. After all, no innocents are being seduced by comic books, right?
"Nuking food" would probably catch on in the 1940s and 1950s as a marketing strategy.
One small point: the Bell X-1 was rocket powered, not jet powered.
Wonder how Elizabeth will be as queen when she does take the throne (I'm sure won't be soon).
I'm sure the two state policy in Palestine will bring lasting peace to the area. 😉
Thank you for the lesson.
Politicization of media has reached its zenith in the west and the next revolution of media has begun. It looks a lot like the old propaganda
Hi Indy and Sparty
Awesome and great explantion
Thanks.
Funny seeing a couple of chaps wearing 3 piece suits in a 50's diner….
7:45 wow she was hot back then
2:38 funny how Bulgaria was the only axis power to gain land and Poland was the only allied power to lose land
Again, the annoying spanish AI dubbing which can’t be disabled from the mobile version of YouTube. Please, don’t enable it when uploading the videos.
I love this newscast format. This is exactly what I hoped for when I heard you would be doing War to War. Thank you, and keep up the good work!
Wow, I didn't realize just how close Roswell was to WWII!
I hope you guys cover more of everyday household devices like the dishwasher, vacuum cleaners, washing machines, ironer, refrigerators, and so on. All these things saved an tremendous amount of times for housewives and moms at home, and I think helped with women permanently entering the workforce on a large scale.
Are you guys gonna go all the way to 1991 how long will this series last?
I forgot that the Roswell incident, sound barrier-breaking and Philip and Elizabeth happened in the same year. There would be a connection between her and the Korean War but that would be in 1952.
'with fascism looking defeated FOR NOW"… this is scary quote.
8:33 Ngl, Lizzy was stacked! 😏
The microwave oven actually languished for more than a generation, the equipment was expensive and metal pots and pans could not be used in them. Stores eventually created to sell this technology to the public much as televisions had their own specific stores. This did not end until the advent of their integration into department stores and ultimately big box stores.
les pistes audio mon dieu
Getting some weird auto translated audio here recently. Can you try to turn it off? Love the series
My family has referred to micro-waving food as 'nuking' it for at least 40 years! Perhaps an English term?
You need competent researchers. The Bell X-1, as any aviation history buff will tell you, was rocket powerednot jet powered.
Got to love the team collaboration. Hope to see more of it.
Can you please turn off the automatic AI translation? As to my knowledge the uploader can do that. The AI voice in German is absolutely annoying. I can turn the voice off myself too, but I guess, if you do it it would be much better for the viewers.
Indy is the sultan of Brunei, confirmed.
Oh boy I can’t wait to see how the two state for looks works in in let’s says 80 years or so!
Anne Frank sob
Sure glad they got Palestine sorted out!
I love the idea that in 1947 people thought that reducing tariffs would be a good idea. Hopefully the current president of the USA could watch and learn!
👍👍👍
Britain really just said “f this shit it’s you guys’ problem now” when concerning Palestine and India
You did not mention a minor Axis power in Asia–Tailand. Though a state of war was never formally recognized by the United State and Britain, Tailand did sign the Axis tri-partite pact in 1942. What is to be it's status?
