  1. Wow, memories of my first car , a 77 "442". Basically a cutlass S with 442 decals. Got it in '79 with 12,000 milies for $3995. Sure, it was a low compression smog motor with a horrible 2.41 gear but at least it was a 8.5" 10 bolt and had a turbo 350. I found a used holly 600 vac sec, Holly street dominator intake and a set of 1969 #5 heads that raised the compressioin to about the low 9.0s. With a W31 knockoff cam, headers a 4.10 gear and 10" torque converter from a chevy vega ($40 at the junkyard in 1980) with Dunlog GT qualifier L60s, I had to roll out to about 10 mph so it wouldn't spin but back in that era , a 14.04 at 98mph wasnt too bad. Never ran it with slicks but 98 mph should have been good enough for maybe 13.60s-70s. And that was just an Olds 350

  2. Colonnade A-Body cars were truly underrated! While everyone goes crazy for '64-'72 A-Bodies, these ‘73-’77 gems have so much potential! From the NASCAR-banned Chevy Laguna S3 to the rare Pontiac Can-Am, these cars were ahead of their time. Imagine picking one up for a fraction of the cost today and turning it into a beast that stands out at any car show. Time to bring these forgotten muscle machines back into the spotlight! Who else thinks these need more love? 🔥💯

  3. I've heard of and seen all of these cars except for the pace car at the end. I knew about the pace car but had never seen one before this video. I also just saw this past week a Can-Am for sale less than a mile from my house.

  4. I had a 1974 Pontiac LeMans Sport Coupe. Bucket seats, console shift and an aftermarket, non leaking, sunroof. When l bought it in '81 it didn't run very well, it had crossed plug wires. Got that straightened out and it ran better. While cleaning under the hood l came across a factory sticker that read, Notice: This engine is designed to be run on 98 or better octane. I then realized it was a factory high performance engine. At that time l could still get 105 octane, put about 1/2 tank in it and BOY HOWDY, that engine was a runner. So much so that the transmission gave up. Got that rebuilt with a good shift kit and 2nds were easy. Should never have sold it.

  5. Well, I know that when-ever I'm looking for a performance car, the 1st concern I have is, "does it have roll-over protection?"
And of course the 5 MPH bumpers are 2nd on my list. Then there's the EGR system. Always a must have. 🤮

  6. There was NO REAL REASON why gubamint motors ceased production on the Can Am because of a rear spoiler mold breakinng? Thats garbage! I"d bet a million bucks that if theyd had the foresight to use one of their REAL REAR SPOILER MOLDS, from the Pontiac Firebird, Firebird Formula, or Trans Am models, – Hell, if worst came to worse, they could have pulled one of the TT spoilers from a Buick Skylark GSX, or the Pontiac GTO! If the issue was the downforce produced by the pathetic excuse for a spoiler they had dezigned for the Can Am, any one of the above mentioned spoilers would have made that rear end stick to the asphalt so much better than that strip of plastic they probably had to glue to the metal trunk, becasue those things were too skinny to screw down!
