๐ŸŒฑWatch Cellulose Weave a New Wall๐Ÿ”ฌ

Using high-resolution time-lapse microscopy imaging and a glowing molecular probe, researchers filmed 14 Arabidopsis thaliana cells as they rebuilt their cellulose-based protective walls from scratch.

The footage reveals four distinct stages of wall regeneration. From enzyme-driven cellulose bursts to mesh formation and full structural rebuild. These microscopic repairs could hold the key to more efficient biofuels, stronger plant-based materials, and a deeper understanding of plant biology.

๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ Original footage & research by Rutgers University scientists: Lam, Chundawat, and colleagues, published in Science Advances (March 2024).
