welcome to yes you can English learning YouTube channel today we bring another fantastic story to practice listening and speaking skills and also learn special vocabulary don’t forget to like And subscribe to get more our practice lessons listen carefully my school science project last month my science teacher told us that we would be doing a big project for the school science fair I was really excited because I love science but I wasn’t sure what topic to pick at first after thinking about it for a few days I decided to do my project on volcanoes I’ve always been fascinated by volcanoes the way they look how they erupt and the impact they have on the earth I thought it would be fun to learn more about them and create a model to show how they work I started by researching volcanoes online and in books I learned about the different types of volcanoes how they form and what causes them to erupt I found out that there are three main types of volcanoes shio volcanoes Cinder comb volcanoes and strata volcanoes each type has its own unique shape And Eruption style after Gathering all my information I began working on the model I decided to make a strata of volcano because they’re the most dramatic and explosive I use a plastic bottle as the base and built up the sides with paper mache to create the shape of the volcano once the paper maché dried I painted it to look like a real volcano with dark rocks Ash and a bright red lava flow The Next Step was to make the volcano erupt I wanted to create a simple but cool eruption for the science fair so I used baking soda and vinegar when you mix them together they create a fizzy reaction that looks like lava flowing out of the volcano finally I put together a poster to explain my project I included pictures diagrams and all the information I had learned about volcanoes the day of the science fair arrived and I was both excited and nervous I set up my model and poster on a table in the school gym along with all the other projects when the judges came around to see my project I explained what I had learned about volcanoes and showed them how my model worked I poured the vinegar into the bottle and the lava bubbled up and flowed down the sides of the volcano the judges seemed impressed and some of the other students gathered around to watch too at the end of the day the winners were announced I didn’t win first place but I did get a special mention for creativity which made me really happy more importantly I felt proud of the work I had done and everything I have learned let’s learn some special words from our story understanding these words will help you improve your English skills one project a study of a particular subject done over a period of time especially by students example he’s doing a class project on pollution two fair if a game or competition is fair it is done according to the rules example it was a fair fight three volcano a mountain with a large circular hole at the top through which lava hot liqui
