More disappointing discoveries at my 200 Year Old Irish Cottage & Homestead – Ep. 116

At this point, we’re looking at roughly 4 different trash piles that have been left by previous owners. It’s disheartening as it takes a lot of time to clear these, and also just sad to know nature has been so disturbed by people’s waste. The good news is that I will work hard this Summer clearing all trash out of the land to make it a lovely biodiverse haven. After these discoveries, I went on to repoint more of the master bedroom, trying to get it finished before the builders took over. This was shot about 2 weeks before the builders arrived.

Morrigan’s Cottage is a 200 year old traditional stone cottage set in the west of Ireland on just under 4 acres. Originally this house would have been used by the local farmers, rented from their British landlords. Dated back to at least the early 1800s, someone has been consistently living here and farming this land since then, up until about 4 years ago when the house was left vacant by the previous owners.

Join me as I take on the challenge of cleaning up and restoring this old, abandoned cottage homestead all on my own! As a single woman, I’m turning this overgrown land and neglected cottage into a cozy, livable space. Watch me tackle everything from clearing brush and restoring the garden to cleaning the interior and breathing new life into this forgotten property.
